Abstract: A new BODIPY dye conjugate has demonstrated selective quenching by mercury over other metal ions. Coupling of this probe to Au–Fe3O4 nanoparticles as well as platinum electrodes offered sensitive systems for suspension and surface based sensing, respectively.
